I was born in a small town in Mississippi; however I grew up on the mean streets of inner city Chicago. My wife Emily and I were married in October, 1982. We have three children and two grandchildren. My ministry in the Christian Reformed Church can be viewed in three phases.

Phase One, covers the six years spent serving Roseland Christian Ministries Center. These were the formative years of cultivating a heart for urban ministry. During Phase Two the Lord opened the door for ministry in a multi-cultural urban church where I served for twenty-two years. These were years of expanding the vision of God’s desire to see His church a diverse unified family. I am now embarking upon a Phase Three of ministry as the Lead Pastor of Oakdale Park CRC. I am captivated by the mission and vision of Oakdale Park CRC to become more and more the beloved community, as we grow in our love for God and our neighbors.

Let us keep our eyes on Jesus, the author and completer of our faith.

Pastor James Jones and his family have been at Oakdale since 1996. When they came they were looking for a church that had a heart for the lost and was a fit for their family. At Oakdale they found both. Pastor James’ passion for bringing people to Christ drove him to transition from his previous career in the car business into full time ministry.

He and his wife Denise have been married since 1990 and they have six daughters. In addition to spending time with his family, James also enjoys hunting and fishing.

I was born into a very gifted family in Grand Rapids, Michigan where at the age of 7, I realized the gift that God also blessed me with. I began to sing in the children’s choir at my father’s church where my mother would put me up front to sing solos. As some years went by, our choir director relocated which left us with no one. At the age of 13, God put it on my heart to take responsibility of leading our choir; God used me to turn our choir into one of the best choirs we ever had. At the age of 16, I was given the full responsibility of minister of music.

As I continued to grow older, God was using me everywhere I turned. I was able to use my gift all over the city, state and out of the country in churches of several denominations. While I was out ministering with my praise team, I met my beautiful wife Tiffany. I thank God for putting her in my life because she keeps me balanced, when I am down, she always there to pick me up.  We have four beautiful children ages 9, 6, 4 and 18 months. I can also see the gifts that God has given them at such young ages.

In 2013 I auditioned for a show called “American Idol”. It aired January of 2014 and to make a long story short, I made the top 15 out of 85,000 people who auditioned. Can someone say “God is good all the time and all the time God is good”! It was one of the best experiences of my life that opened many others doors to minister to others.

I am so excited to be a part of the Oakdale Park CRC to help usher in the presence of God though the ministry of music. I pray that God takes us all to new levels in him as we give him the best that we have.

I grew up in Minnesota and lived and worked in ministry in California and Michigan. Linda is my wife -- she's a piano teacher; we have two children, both married, also a son and daughter- in- law and five grandchildren. They live in Grand Rapids (for now) and Santa Cruz, Calif.

An ordained minister, I am blessed to have been a church planter in southern California, a Christian Reformed Home Missions regional director for the west coast, and Home Missions  executive director through 2008. I'm blessed to have been around when many people, including me, had their lives taken over by Jesus Christ either again, or for the first time.

I was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and moved to Michigan when I came to college. I married my high school sweetheart, Eric, and we settled here. I've been attending Oakdale since 1995. Our first home was on Temple street, two blocks from church.  My first (and only) job out of college was to work here, at Oakdale Park Church from 1999-2004. During that time, I was the director of youth ministries, leading and directing the Middle School and High School youth groups. I loved that job and that time in my life! Reluctantly, I left paid ministry after the birth of my firstborn and began full-time "mom" ministry, including homeschooling my kids.

I am so excited to be back in Youth Ministry. Kids are a passion of mine and the ages between 12 and 18 are foundational for a teen to meet and know Jesus as their own Savior, not just as the God of his/her parents. Not only do I love to build relationships with kids, but also to encourage and equip adults to love them and discover how creative, intelligent, curious, unique each one is and how to fall in love with each one.

I grew up in Hudsonville, MI.  My husband, Brandon and I were married in 1998 and we have two children. We first started attending Oakdale when we were in college and returned shortly after we returned to Michigan in 2003.  We love our family at Oakdale, the focus on diversity, and the commitment to sharing the love of Jesus with our community.

I graduated from Calvin College with a Bachelors in Social Work and am currently a full-time student in the Masters of Social Work program at Grand Valley State University.  I enjoy serving as the Administrative Assistant at Oakdale Park Church, a part-time position.  Some of my favorite activities include travel, reading, and making photo books of our adventures.

I was born and raised in Cutlerville, Michigan. I grew up going to Cutlerville East CRC, was married there in October of 1987 to Todd Peless. I have three children: Sarah, 23; Emily, 20; and Mark 16. We started going to Cornerstone United Methodist Church for a few years, but wanted something on a smaller scale (Cornerstone was up to 3 morning services due to the large amount of people). We started going to Oakdale CRC in October of 2007 at the recommendation of my sister, Marge Brewer. I love being able to attend a church where you can know everyone and not have to choose which of the 3 morning services you want to attend! I also love the diversity and friendliness at Oakdale. We loved it so much that we moved in June of 2009 to live right across the street from Oakdale! At that time, I was without a job. I have been in the mental health secretarial field for over 25 years, but was let go in November of 2009. So I really enjoyed filling in for the previous custodian or when the secretary needed to be away for a few days. Even tho I was still looking for secretarial work, God had different plans. I was honored to be offered the custodian position here at Oakdale and I have enjoyed it ever since I started in January of 2012.
