Loving God

Prayer:

Take every opportunity to talk with our God.
(Ephesians 6:18)

Every event is covered in prayer
(Colossians 4:2)

Every ministry decision is lifted up in individual and communal prayer (Philippians 4:6)

Prayer defines how we depend on God to be effective in our work (Genesis 4:26)

We take time to listen to God who speaks to us through prayer and His Word. (Psalm 46:10)

We rely on God to work in our world in response to prayer.
(I Timothy 2:1,2)

Worship:

We worship the one true God all together.
(Revelation  7:9-12)

Preaching of the word that is biblical, reformed, contextual, life-changing, and authentic (I Cor 2:4)

Music and movement that helps a diverse community interact with the triune God (Psalm 150)

Joyful giving that reflects our trust in God and eagerness to advance his kingdom (2 Cor. 9:13)

Sacraments celebrated and promises lived out as a church family (Mark 14:22-25)

Confession to consistently reinforce our dependence on God in our brokenness (I John 1:9)

Loving Others

Diversity:

A diverse community reflects God and His kingdom.
(Galatians 3:28)

We are called to be Jesus Christ to the neighborhood of Oakdale Park. (Acts 1:8)

We strive to be a community to which everyone has a sense of belonging. (Romans 12:5)

Every person is a unique part of the whole body with spiritual gifts to serve the body. (I Corinthians 12:14)

In all ministry and leadership of the church, we strive to develop diverse teams. (Ephesians 4:16)

God desires to restore all facets of life to the way that He intended them to be. (Revelation 21:5)

Relationships:

We need each other. (Ephesians 4:2,3)

Community – People strongly experience Gods’ grace, care and call through relationships. (Rom. 13:8)

Communication – We always call for thorough communication, marked by love. (Eph. 4:5)

Togetherness – We mourn with those who mourn and rejoice with those who rejoice. (Rom. 12:15)

Encouragement – We must spur one another on to uncompromising devotion. (Hebrews 10:24)

Companionship – We all share the responsibility for everyone growing in Christ together.
(I Thessalonians 5:14,15)

Mutuality – Everybody gives of themselves and everybody receives. (Colossians 3:13)

Teamwork –  Empowers members, incorporates multiple opinions, generates more good ideas, embraces more perspectives, and reduces burnout. (Genesis 2:18)

Right Here

Discipleship:

Disciples intentionally make disciples. (Matthew 28:18 – 20)

Outreach –We are committed to reach out with the love of Christ to those who do not yet know him. (Acts 2:38,39)

Stewardship – Using all that God has given us collectively to further his kingdom. (Luke 6:10-12)

Teaching – We study the truths of the bible and pass them on to others. (Colossians 3:15-17)

Leadership – The training of leaders starts early and never stops. (I Thessalonians 5:12,13)

Accountability – Growing Christians need it and should invite it. (Colossians 3:15-17)

Justice – Everyone must fight for justice on behalf of everyone. (Psalm 11:7)

Reconciliation – Striving to resolve all our differences, whether personal or otherwise. (Ephesians 2:14-16)

Inclusion – Removing all barriers to full membership and participation in the ministry of the congregation, neither sexual orientation nor gender identity will impact a person’s ability to fully participate at Oakdale Park Church. (I Corinthian 12:1-13).
